About Us
Sally Harding
lllumina Design is the outcome of Australian founder, Sally Harding’s natural passion for well-designed and well-made art pieces.
Born in Perth, Sally spent many years working and living overseas. This provided her with a great opportunity to view and handle the unusual and unique artefacts of many different cultures. Having always harboured a passion for interior design, she soon found herself collecting individual and visually arresting ceramics, sculptures and all sorts of art forms.
Her taste is eclectic, but the items all combine striking design qualities and superior workmanship, with subjects reflecting individual creativity as well as different cultures. All display an unmistakable vitality that comes from the sensitive use of high quality materials in talented hands.
Upon returning to Australia, Sally was sufficiently inspired to start designing and crafting her own original pieces from wood, glass and ceramics. She had found a way to share her love for bespoke art and design. Recognising that she needed to do more, she next developed the vision of a business to bring more luxurious pieces to lovers of inspiring, unique and beautiful things. And so, Illumina Design was born.
She has since worked closely with expert international craftsmen to design and create the timeless marble crosses, brass urns and treasure boxes that can be found under the Illumina name. Each piece is handmade with the care of an artist’s touch, and each presents a distinctly individual feel. Classic materials are combined in new and unexpected ways: marble and glass mosaics are laid into smooth, gleaming brass forms, and ceramics are used as decorative motifs embedded into iridescent tiles.
There will be more to this story. Sally’s vision is to see Illumina’s work light up cathedrals, churches, public spaces, schools, homes, gardens and cemeteries, providing a much-needed explosion of colour and creativity in spaces where spiritual uplift and inspiration is most needed.
