Hawthorn House Yarning Circle, Albany WA

HAWTHORN HOUSE YARNING ART GROUP

The artpiece was co-designed and collaborated with the Hawthorn House Menang Yarning Group Albany and Illumina Design.

The Yarning Circle was created in collaboration with the Hawthorn House Community as a meeting place for sharing food with family and friends, a gathering place for listening to stories and reminiscing our history and fond memories with people.

  • The outer circle represents the rocks scattered amongst the landscape of Albany.

  • The diamonds are the jewels of the sky guiding us home.

  • The second circle represents the tapestry of various lands that threads it way around the communities on Country.

  • The third circle represents the communities crossing the lands and camping on Country.

  • The blue ocean circle represents the waterways and coastlines for hunting gathering and fishing.

  • The earth and sun are represented in the centre.
