The artpiece was co-designed and collaborated with the Hawthorn House Menang Yarning Group Albany and Illumina Design.
The Yarning Circle was created in collaboration with the Hawthorn House Community as a meeting place for sharing food with family and friends, a gathering place for listening to stories and reminiscing our history and fond memories with people.
The outer circle represents the rocks scattered amongst the landscape of Albany.
The diamonds are the jewels of the sky guiding us home.
The second circle represents the tapestry of various lands that threads it way around the communities on Country.
The third circle represents the communities crossing the lands and camping on Country.
The blue ocean circle represents the waterways and coastlines for hunting gathering and fishing.
The earth and sun are represented in the centre.
